What is Urgent Care House Calls?

Urgent Care House Calls is a physician medical service offering urgent care via house calls to home, hotels, workplace, or other sites from Passaic to Bergen and Morris Counties in New Jersey 24 hrs, 7 days a week. It is the medical practice of Dr’s. Ken Cartaxo and John Hallenbeck, both veteran board certified Emergency Physicians. It is Urgent Care House Calls goal to provide convenient, compassionate quality and professional service for its patients.

Why should I use Urgent Care House Calls?

Urgent Care House calls is a new innovative house call service brought to you by experienced Board Certified Emergency Physicians. Many problems commonly treated in the emergency department can be cared for in the home, workplace, or hotel, without long waiting times or exposure to community acquired illness. It is our belief that modern interventional house call services can be provided safely when physicians are properly trained and experienced. As experienced emergency physicians, we are fully prepared if things considered initially urgent should become emergent and will be fully able to stabilize most emergencies, while awaiting EMS for hospital transfer.

What type of patients benefit from house call services?

Anyone wanting urgent care services brought to them for convenience. We provide care for local residents on tight schedules, homebound patients, visually impaired patients, geriatric patients, and non-ambulatory patients. We also provide care for patients who cannot leave work or, parents who have to arrange for childcare in order that they or sibling may be seen, Anyone in need of after hour urgent care

What services are offered by Urgent Care House Calls?

  • Treatment for dehydration via IV Hydration
  • Administration of IV medications for the treatment of nausea, vomiting, infection, allergic reactions, hiccups, fluid overload states and others
  • Splinting, cast removal, foreign body removal, stitches, bleeding from the nose, and abscess treatment
  • We communicate with your doctor when needed or upon your request.
  • We help facilitate admissions to all local area hospitals.
  • Physical examinations for school, sports, work, or other purpose
  • Tetanus vaccinations
  • Urinalysis
  • Pregnancy testing
  • Management of acute pain
  • We dispense all medically indicated prescriptions on site

Do you offer pediatric care services?

We have had extensive training and experience in emergency pediatric care. While we do not offer treatment of major or life threatening emergencies, situations which are best treated in the emergency department, we do provide quality, convenient pediatric urgent care house call services..

Does Urgent House Calls have an office or clinic?

No. We are dedicated to providing house calls only. 

What happens when I request a house call from Urgent Care House Calls?

When Urgent Care House Calls is called, a doctor will usually answer the telephone directly. This is the beginning of the personalized service that is provided by Urgent Care House Calls. After appropriate triage and questions are answered, a determination will be made as to weather the complaint is urgent vs. emergent. All urgent cases will then be evaluated by the doctor

How long will it take for my doctor to arrive?

The doctor will usually arrive within one hour. The doctor will advise you of the estimated time of arrival. For your convenience, you may request a preferred time to meet with your doctor. You will have direct telephone contact with your house call provider available to you at all times before your doctor arrives.

What happens during the house call?

Your doctor will perform a history and physical examination appropriate for the problem and will then recommend treatment options. After completion of treatment and observation, if necessary, all questions will be answered, and instructions will be given, you will continue to have direct telephone access to your doctor for any follow up questions or needs that may arise.

What is the personalized service provided by Urgent Care House Calls?

We enjoy being with our patients and not having the pressure to “move on to the next one.” The house call medical visit is far less time-constrained than in the office, clinic or emergency department. Our patients are given the direct mobile telephone number for their doctor upon request of the house call service. Patients continue to have access to their treating house call doctor after the house call. House call physicians usually follow up via telephone with their patients within a day or two after the house call.

What medications and supplies do house call doctors carry?

Oral and other medications are provided to spare patients a trip to the pharmacy, and medical supplies such as nasal packing, sterile dressing. Foley catheters and splints are available. House call physicians carry injectable medications, IV fluids, wound repair and other equipment,

How do I pay for service?

We do not take any third party payments, which means we ask for payment at the time of service. For your convince, we accept Master card, and Visa

Will my Insurance (non Medicare) reimburse your charges?

Because there are many insurance companies, and each one offers many different plans, it is not possible to predict how each plan, will reimburse our fees. However, many private insurance companies will reimburse up to 80% of our fee. We provide the necessary paperwork you will need to submit a claim.
